As a Licensed Vocational Nurse for (Community Living Center) Kerrville Division. You will demonstrate sound techniques in complex nursing care procedures and basic care of the Residents in a Long-Term care setting. You will provide nursing care in a self-directed manner with work accomplished requiring minimal review by the RN in charge and is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager or designee for the quality and quantity of work performed on a daily basis, and is responsible and accountable for his/her individual practice. You will complete a focused assessment and document appropriately. You must possess excellent communications, interpersonal, customer service skills. In addition to providing clinical support, you will be responsible for actively participating in staff meetings and/or workgroups, recognizing and appropriately responding to breakage/malfunction or loss of equipment. You will administer medications as ordered or collaborate with RN and/or NP/MD if he/she suspects a medication should not be administered. You will update the ANM/RN when appropriate with accurate and necessary information regarding issues that have occurred. You will assist NM and ANM in compiling data in a timely manner including but not limited to:
performance improvement / quality improvement reports; schedules; certified time; workload requests; and patient care data reviews. You will participate in career development through periodic need assessments, and scheduling of training / in-services, continuing education programs, and participation in committees and councils/meetings. You will ensure completion of annual mandatory training requirements and competency statements. Work Schedule:

Health care education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full LPN/LVN licensure will be accepted as meeting the education requirements. Individuals granted a license by a jurisdiction that does not require graduation from an approved school (One year of successful practice is required). Licensure:
Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency:
Licensed practical or vocational nurses appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in both spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). Preferred

In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following qualification criteria must be met for each grade. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade. GS-3. None beyond the basic requirements. (LVNs at this grade level are expected to perform all duties within the scope of their license; however, completed work may require routine or detailed higher level review depending upon the complexity of the duties involved. GS-4. Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN; or Graduation from an approved school and one year of experience that involved nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures; or Graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months duration. LVNs at the GS-4 grade level perform all duties expected of employees at the GS-3 grade level; however, they are expected to exercise greater judgment, require less supervision, and to operate in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and techniques. GS-5. Completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent. GS-6. Completion of at least 1 year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN. References:
