Registered Nurse Assistant Nurse Manager Community Living Center (CLC) Kerrville

The Assistant Nurse Manager (Registered Nurse) for one of the four neighborhoods of the Community Living Center, Kerrville Division, will serve as the Acting Nurse Manager (ANM) in the absence of the incumbent Nurse Manager (NM). You will be responsible for evaluating, guiding and developing staff as they execute:
development of plans of care, prioritization of client needs, relevance of nursing diagnosis, individualization of interventions, expected veteran-resident outcomes, and quality of documentation. You will distribute time and effort between hands-on direct care (40%) and management/administrative functions (60%). You will serve on a rotational basis along with other Kerrville Division nursing leaders as the accessible in-house nursing leadership authority after routine business hours. You will be expected to recognize and respond to urgent needs appropriately utilizing critical thinking skills and on-the-spot re prioritization. You will employ effective communication skills to identify and resolve problems/issues on the neighborhood and/or in the facility after business hours. You will report to Nursing leadership accurate, necessary, and sufficient information regarding issues that may have occurred in the neighborhood during and after normal business hours that cannot be tabled until the next AM Department of Nursing Morning Report. You will assist the NM in managing the assigned unit(s) resources within budgetary guidelines. With attention to variable labor costs (e.g. overtime and comp time), new and replacement equipment, and supplies. You will compile and submit required reports in a timely manner including but not limited to:
performance appraisals; proficiencies; performance improvement / quality improvement reports; schedules; certified time; workload requests; and patient care data reviews. You will understand, teach, and monitor neighborhood staff's completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Assessments through the Caribou system. You will understand, initiate, and update, complete and accurate I-Care plans for assigned residents. You will be completing special assignments and a contributing member of Nursing Administration Committee and a system of councils and committees. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience.
