Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are:
GS-13:
Applicants must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for this position include:
- Mastery of bioinformatics algorithms in order to display ingenuity and originality in innovation and application to design, detect, and analyze novel genetic variation and patterns inherent in biological data; - Mastery of computational biology to ensure scientific soundness and accuracy of reported research, subject to validation by the scientific community for long term programs and national significance; - Experience using commercial statistical software (SAS, R, AREML) and programming languages (FORTRAN - Producing publications as the primary author or contributor that are of considerable interest to the field; - Developing information or providing technical support to research projects, such as molecular genetics, population genetics, molecular biology and/or genomics to develop and analyze genotypic and phenotypic data; - Being recognized through citation as a significant contributor to projects, or peer-reviewed publications and papers in the identified field of research; - Experience in the use of bioinformatics and statistics in a research environment; GS-14:

- Mastery of bioinformatics algorithms in order to display ingenuity and originality in innovation and application to design, detect, and analyze novel genetic variation and patterns inherent in biological data; - Mastery of computational biology to ensure scientific soundness and accuracy of reported research, subject to validation by the scientific community for long term programs and national significance; - Experience training and consulting with other staff and scientists regarding new tools, programs, utilities, or data sets; - Experience using commercial statistical software (SAS, R, AREML) and programming languages (FORTRAN - Producing publications as the primary author or contributor that are of considerable interest to the field; - Developing information or providing technical support to research projects, such as molecular genetics, population genetics, molecular biology and/or genomics to develop and analyze genotypic and phenotypic data; - Being recognized through citation as a significant contributor to projects, or peer-reviewed publications and papers in the identified field of research; - Experience in the use of bioinformatics and statistics in a research environment; The experience defined above requires research experience as evidenced by obtaining of a PhD or similar research degree and substantial publication record. If you do not have a publication record you must submit an abstract of your thesis or dissertation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
